Boo And Yea!
Day three disgusted me so bad I didn't want to even post anything about it. But since I had some success on Day 4 and the journey has begun I will be honest about the Boo day.
I had a suspicion that my gym membership had run out from my 4 month hiatis. In fact i was pretty sure it had. So sure in fact that I didn't even go to the gym on the morning of Day 3. Why go and check at 5:00 in the morning when there wouldn't be anyone there to do the paper work. Someone who is reading this would now ask themselves why I didn't go the afternoon before and get signed up in advance. Okay Mr. Smart Aleck, I didn't go because I was holding that excuse as an Ace card so I didn't have to go.
Isn't this what most people do to avoid something. Come up with the oddest excuse. Well, I am no different except I will eventually get tired of making excuses not to go to the gym. I ran out of excuses that were good enough to fool me. Snow. Didn't know my memebership had run out. But this is the way I always start. It was to the point I couldn't fool myself I had a good excuse and that the next one wouldn't work. I would have to admit I was just lazy.
So I went to the gym that afternoon and got all signed up. It's official and my plan is to be in the gym at 5:00 the next morning
This is Day 4 and I made it to the gym. It's been 8 hours since my workout and I am feeling a little sore. That's good except for the fact I didn't do more that 8 sets of exercises with a weight a small child could lift.
This though is exactly what I had planned. I never start seriously working out the first week. The first week is to slowly shock my muscles and my attitude into the gym routine.
This first week is preperation, which consists of a 5 minute warmup on the exercise bike at medium resistance. Then one set of 15 reps for the major muscle groups (using very light weight) and then 20 minutes of cardio (if you want to call it that) on the eliptical orbitor at a nice slow pace. This all takes about 45 minutes. Tomorrow will be just slightly increasing the resistance of
everything.
This to me is how everyone should start out. YOu may have to jump in the lake to get to the gym but once you start you should wade in for that first week.
I feel really good that I have started. Now I am unstoppable!
